The Nazca lines are an interesting pieces of art. They are believed to be created by the nasca people. They have many names like Geoglpyhs because they are designed into the eart itself by using strong natural material like stones. The nasca people were thriving around 1-700 C.E in Peru. There are many of these geoglyphs that take different shapes of animals like a humming bird spider killer whale condor moneys and many more. There are many different theory’s behind these drawings, but the question is how were they soaccurate with he technology they had? How did they have they’re lines drawn so accurately before they even had planes? If you ask someone who believes in conspiracy’s they’d say help with aliens, everyone i subjected to they’re on opinion. Some scholars believe they could be a calendar of some sort or walkways. These lines still remain a mystery that will last as such for ages to come.

Pyxis, 5th century, ivory with the base restored in wood, 11.3 cm in diameter, Alexandria, Egypt © Trustees of the British Museum Aksum was the name of a kingdom that could now be considered northern Ethiopia the civilization was made up of multiple religions. The most popular one would be Christianity which was thriving during the 4th century. Judaism was another popular one that was started by a group of black Jews. Not much is known about the Aksum kingdom but what we do know is that they had a king and queen, king solomon, queen Sheba and their son menelik. One important thing about the kingdom is it is the home of the biblical ark of the covenant which lies the tablets of laws  where the Ten Commandments are inscribed. In the picture provided you can see what looks to be like two warriors fighting what could be a wolf or some sort of animal. They are using spears as their weapon. One weird thing is at the center of the right warrior and the animal is a rock that could si...

Keshi

Image
This picture in a way is a very graphic photo from the 5th century, this photo reminds me of hurccles. The man in the photo is Krishna who  battles the demon keshi. Keshi the demon has been holding krishnas people captive. The demon doesn't look like how we see a demon but instead he is said to be a horse. Krishna uses one foot to hold him in place while he shoves his arm down the demon's throat. Underneath the  fighters looks to be another dead fighter, possibly a demon. The battle between keshi and krishnas also appears in the tenth Book of the Bhagavata Purana. Keshi knew he was bound to be killed by  Krishna so he sent other de mons to try and kill him first.

Photograph of Hajj in 2011 (photo: @ifatma) The photo above is a picture of the 2011 hajj, the hajj is also known as the Pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi arabia. For every adult Muslim it is required to attend at least once in his or her lifetime. If they are unable to attend they are also able to perform the hajj by proxy which is them appointing someone like a relative or close friend to stand in for them. I've always found the islamic culture super interesting which is why I decided to choose the picture of such an important part of their life.  during the Hajj they retrace the route of prophet muhammad and ibrahim. The hajj is also supposed to deepen their devotion to allah. The Hajj consists of six days of growing closer to Allah and after completing the 6 days they can add hajj to their name which translates to intend a journey. day one consists of circling the kaaba, retracing the steps between the two hills where hagar once ran back and forth while search...

Epiphany of Dionysus  mosaic, is from the Villa of Dionysus . this piece of art amazes me aswell as shoes how powerful and ruthless they were at this time. I also find it crazy on how 90 percent of the pictures from this time appear of people . In this picture you can see there is not much color and the color that there is is very dark it makes me think that this was a post war picture traveling back from somewhere.  you can see the boat but with some creatures on the side and humans in the water. another thing that gives me the thought of water is the surrounding cloth looking things look like waves from water. the staff being held up behind the guy looks like a flag that represents who they are and the guy who likes more blue looks like he has a crown on. In the vase above you can see achilles killing an amazon queen. The color of the  vase makes it really dramatic. achilles is in all black to make him stand out more, he was best known for his e...

Ive never really looked at art so im looking forward to learning more about why artist did what they did and the meaning behind it all. After looking at all the amazing artworks provided my favorite one was one by a guy that goes by the name of Robert Delaunay.  Mr.Delaunay and his artwork of the eiffel tower stuck out to me, i felt that it gave a new look to such a outstanding and beautiful structure. This piece was finished in 1911 in which  he used oil on canvas.
